ALOE VERA, THE NEW CROP CORDOBES

The province has more than twenty acres of this plant native to Mexico and has become an alternative to the poor condition of the field and the crisis of agricultural prices

Price crisis, low profitability, CAP reforms, adverse weather conditions ... The field has become an increasingly less attractive to invest, especially if you opt for traditional crops, in a permanent crisis that leaves them in a difficult situation for farmers. But something is changing in the landscape of the province and farmers becoming interested in other products
. One of these is aloe vera, a plant that promises to be a product yield rising with various applications in cosmetics and in health, among other sectors, and allows grown without much care and expense that result from them. In this context was born Varo Aloe Company, formed by five young brothers of Aguilar de la Frontera, which already have more than four acres of tobacco that may be collected from next year. This firm responds precisely to the changing habits of agriculture because the land on which there are now aloe vera, before he had a vineyard. The CAP reform forced to pull it and this family decided to go for this novel cultivation in the province two years ago now.
"We had heard about the possibilities of aloe and decided to start this business," says Diego Palma. In principle the idea is to sell the raw material both nationally and to other countries, but does not exclude, in a few years, have a marketing industry this plant. Among the short-term, according to Palma, is "growing the plant giving it all the care required for that in 2012 has all the properties needed to exploit it." And it was not until three years of development when the aloe acquires all its properties that stand out as a plant whose active ingredients are very beneficial to health.
Aloe vera production is booming in a province that is traditionally olive and wine, but such initiatives open new paths for the farmer Cordoba. Keep in mind that both climatic conditions and terrain make the province of Córdoba suitable for this crop. Aloe Varo has four acres and a half of this plant, to which we add another 14 hectares distributed by Aguilar, Montilla and Castro del Rio and produced by Aloe Andaluz, led by Mexican Juan Eduardo Martinez. The only problem you may have is that it requires a large investment at first and another three years can not be collecting the plant for sale. During this time all care is dedicated to the plants, but the benefit comes later. At the time of collection, Palma poses that can be created about 80 wages. In addition, this plant does not have a particular time of collection and even can be done up to three times a year whenever there product to harvest.
Aloe Varo The company is certified organic operation, which means that does not use any type of chemical treatment plant. This ensures, as Diego Palma, which is an organic product quality with less damage to health and the environment. Varo Aloe belongs to the National Association of Entrepreneurs of Aloe, Asocialoe, which aims coordination between associations to represent and defend the interests of the collective. It was incorporated in May 2010 and form the country's largest producers, plus two outstanding laboratories and companies related to this activity.
